Why Do Diabetics Need Foot Care?

For people living with diabetes, the feet are one of the most vulnerable parts of the body. Diabetes can reduce blood circulation and cause damage to nerves, meaning cuts, blisters, or infections may go unnoticed. Left untreated, these issues can lead to serious complications. Regular foot health screening is an essential part of diabetic care.

What the Screening Includes

A diabetic foot health screening with Solewise Clinic involves:

  • Checking circulation in the feet and lower limbs

  • Testing for sensation loss using specialist equipment

  • Assessing skin condition, nails, and overall foot structure

  • Identifying areas at risk of pressure or injury

  • Giving tailored advice for ongoing daily foot care

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your treatment fees?

We aim to provide professional, affordable foot care at all times. Our treatment fees therefore reflect the high standard of care we provide. CLICK HERE to view our fees for this service.

How many treatments will I need?

Our purpose is to keep our diabetic patients pain free and risk free. At the initial appointment, diabetic patients have a neuro-vascular assessed so we can ‘benchmark’ them based risk. The risk depends on many factors such as medical history, mobility, disease progression, lifestyle and foot health. We take all these factors into account and recommended a treatment plan that can vary from monthly to 6 monthly depending on your individual need.

Who can receive this treatment?

With a few exceptions, most people will benefit from a routine foot appointment as we always assess your general and lower limb health together with the treatment we provide. Diabetic foot care is as important as regular dental and optical check-ups in maintaining your general health and wellbeing.
